I love everything about turkeys!!!  I love how beautiful their feathers can be. I love how anywhere in New England I can spot one crossing the road….who knows why?  I love the gobble sound they make, (infact I have that for my text ringtone every thanksgiving) …but most of all I Love the way they taste!!!!
There’s....roast turkey, fried turkey, chicken fried turkey, tofu turkey burgers (without the tofu).
Each year we find a turkey farm to get our dinner from. We find the turkeys and gobble until they respond whenever possible, did I tell you my daughter can talk turkey? … I mean gobble? This year we went to Ekonk hill Turkey Farm in Moosup CT.  Besides the turkey and the visit to CT,(first time to visit), we had to go because of the name, don’t you just love the name? Ekonk hill turkey farm has a lot to do in the fall, they have a corn maze, a farm store with lotsa specialty items including fresh ice cream so make sure you visit when you’re around Moosup!
There’s turkey shish-kabob, turkey salad sandwich, turkey salad, turkey gyros, BLT-turkey sandwich…
I Love that my daughters school bus was caught up in traffic because a family line of turkeys decided 2 days before Thanksgiving, they were going to cross the road….2 days before they must have been eating some bad mushrooms.  They should have just drawn targets on their backs!
You can have bacon covered turkey, popcorn turkey, turkey meatloaf, turkey and cheese omelets…
We love talking over recipes and different ways to prepare the turkey, so every year it’s an experiment that we get to choose to take on.  Do we use the roasting bags, or do we baste every 25 minutes?  Should we deep fry and risk our garage roof setting on fire?(have I told you how clumsy we can get?) Gravey, which sides go with turkey?
This year we tried something a little different.  Our daughter mentioned that we should put an outside layer of stuffing on the bird to keep it juicy, and you know something, it really worked.  We still basted, and the outside stuffing turned out to be delicious too.
To our happy surprise, we made a 26.5 lb turkey that was juicy ALL THE WAY THROUGH…Yes that’s right, we made a 26.5 lb turkey for the 3 of us. We LOVE turkey, accept it, let’s move on to deserts.  Chocolate and pumpkin pie.
Honey mustard turkey, turkey marsala, spicy Carribean glazed turkey, turkey avocado…
Happy Holiday eating!
