In the great State of Michigan there resides a sub-culture of voyagers who head to the beautiful landscape and pristine waters of Northern Michigan on a regular basis. Some spend more than a hundred hours a year driving north and south on I-75 for weekends and extended vacations. There are plenty of gas stations and fast-food stops amongst more than 100 exits between in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula but for those who can spare an extra hour or more, adventure awaits. We will randomly review your options here and although the men in your life will likely prefer the bullet train direct to your destination so they can chill in front of the TV or hit the lake for a few hours fishing, once in a while you should try some of these……….
We will start approximately in the middle of the state with exit 182 – Pinconning. The Cheese
capital of Michigan. There are stores at the exit and also downtown that offer cheese tasting and will
be happy to guide you around several cheese varieties and their local recipe for “Pinconning Cheese”
which ranges from Mild to Super Super Sharp! Go ahead – ask for a sample!! These stores are also
great finds for anyone wanting pickled food, bloody mary mix, and several other foodie items.
Also hidden in the back street of this town is a store big enough and strange enough you’ll want to spend at least 30 minutes getting your bearings right. Northwoods Wholesale Outlet has too many items to name and I dare you to leave without finding something worth while!
In Michigan, we’ll never be far from some ice cream treats and I’ll never leave you hanging along the road. In Pinconning, it’s Purtell’s Restaurant offering sit down service or take out. Enjoy!
