My Food Journey
How I've shaped and changed the way I eat
How I've shaped and changed the way I eat
By: Onehappymama I loved the commercials that came out of the 80s and early 90s, one of them being this goofy Entenmann's commercial with the baker coming out of his lab like Frankenstein with his new creation, fat free cholesterol free cake, and shouting, “You can eat cake!” We have trusted that these food businesses have discovered a way into making these amazing supernatural treats. Our hero! In truth, they are using deceptive wording and packaging in hopes to increase sales and profits. We end up justifying having what was once considered an occasional treat as a daily habit. We see phrases like, low fat, cholesterol free, low sodium, sugar free and can justify eating twice, sometimes three times as much as we should. Don’t be fooled! To take out one bad ingredient is to sneak in another, or to construct your food in a lab using chemicals that weren’t intended for us to eat. So what’s the solution? Make your desserts from scratch. I’m not talking about the dough you get in the refrigerated section at the store; I’m talking about mixing the ingredients yourself. Since it takes more time, and I’m a busy mom, I won’t have a constant supply of treats in the house. It will be when I’m ready to have them. Another benefit of making your desserts from scratch is the ingredient list. You are aware of what is going into your food. This visualization will also help to encourage less eating and more sharing. When I make my own chocolate chip cookies, they taste better and have half the ingredients of store bought cookies. Take a look at the ingredients listed below. You can get more of their nutritional information here
