How I've shaped and changed the way I eat

So we know we need to get off the diet bandwagon, and we need to rewire our thinking about eating healthy. Now what? The concept is so simple it has been staring us in the eye. Eat balanced meals. Now the hard part... doing it. With our busy, modern lives, it is actually harder to eat healthy and easier to pop that frozen dinner in the microwave (or even faster, polish off that box of cookies while you are working at your desk). If its hard work, it’s a good thing. If it’s harder to rinse off that apple and cut it into slices, it’s a good thing. If it’s harder to cook a 30 minute meal than to drive to the fast food restaurant down the street, it’s a good thing. We have gotten so far away from healthy eating; we may not even know what it looks like anymore. And now you’re telling me not to follow the food pyramid?! What do I use as my guidelines? Our government has actually adopted a new guideline called “My Plate.” It is actually a great visualization with dividing a plate into different sections showing you the recommended portions for the different food groups. Check it out here at My Plate
